East Grinstead: Bikes, tools and high-value gates burgled

Homes in the A22 Lewes Road area in East Grinstead have been targeted.

Sussex Police said they are stepping up patrols but are urging people to ensure all valuables are out of sight and secured in a shed or garage.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the burglaries, and officers will be maintaining an increased, high-visibility presence in the area to identify and deter any further criminal activity.

“Residents are also being urged to stay vigilant and alert to any suspicious behaviour, and to take some simple steps to help protect their homes and property from theft.


“They include ensuring all valuables are out of sight or secured in a shed or garage where possible and locking all doors and windows when you leave the house.

“Further crime prevention advice can be found on our website.

“If you have any information relating to any offences, or have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area, please report it to us online or by calling 101. Always dial 999 in an emergency or if a crime is in progress.”
