Most dangerous places in Sussex and crime stats revealed

Data from the police and crime statistics website police.uk shows how many offences have been reported in towns, cities and neighbourhoods across the region.

Statistics show that Brighton is the most crime-affected area in the county, with Crawley and Worthing rounding out the top three.

Last year, 25,291 crimes were reported in Brighton and Hove, working out at a crime rate of 103 offences per 1,000 people in the city.

The stats are an increase on figures for 2021, during which 23,307 crimes were reported.

Brighton vastly outweighs any other areas in the county, with second place Crawley having 10,760 crimes reported in the same time period.

Rounding out the top five most crime-affected areas are Worthing (9,882), Eastbourne (9,683) and Hastings (9,621).

Based on crimes reported per person, Chichester and Bognor Regis ranked highly with 135 and 110 crimes per 1,000 people respectively.

In Brighton, the most common crimes reported were in the violence and sexual offence category, with 9,293 in 2022.

Anti-social behaviour and public order offences also ranked high.
